Holiday Drinks at Trader Sam’s!

One of my favorite things about the Holiday season at Disneyland is the special food and drinks they offer.  My #1 favorite is the Peppermint Ice Cream and Candy Cane Waffle Cone at Gibson Girl, but that’s not what this post is about (it’s just what I’m thinking about 95.4% of the day).

This post is about my new favorite place at the Resort – Trader Sam’s at the Disneyland Hotel!  Trader Sam’s is a Jungle Cruise themed tiki bar that just opened a few months ago as part of the massive Disneyland Hotel remodel.  They have great drinks and great snacks!

A couple weeks ago I went with some friends to check out their holiday offerings – the Red Nosed Zebra and the Mele Kaliki-Mocha.  The Red Nosed Zebra is a rum + strawberry drink and the Mele Kaliki-Mocha is a Kahlua + coffee drink.  They both sounded really good and I would have loved to have tried both, but I went with the Red Nosed Zebra, and I’m glad I did!  It was SUPER YUMMY.  THE YUMMIEST.

AND THE CUTEST.  OMG, DO YOU SEE???? It’s a reindeer!  (You see, there are no reindeer on the Jungle Cruise, so they named it after the zebra … it took me a while to figure that one out, so I thought I would share in case any of my readers are slow, like me [which means I love you even more]).

And now, as of today, the recipes for both drinks are available on the Disney Parks Blog!  Happy Holidays!

Red-Nosed Zebra
Makes 1 cocktail
Recipe from the Disney Parks Blog

1.5 ounces Bacardi 8 rum
1/2 ounce fresh lemon juice
1/2 ounce fresh lime juice
1 ounce agave nectar
1 ounce strawberry purée
Crushed ice, 3 cranberries, 2 mint sprigs, for garnish

  1. Add all ingredients in a Boston Shaker (except garnish), fill half full with ice, and shake vigorously for 10 seconds.
  2. Strain into a margarita glass filled with ice. Garnish with a mound of crushed ice, cranberries, and mint sprigs to look like 2 green antlers, cranberries for eyes and nose.
  3. SQUEEEE at the cuteness. (Okay, I added this last step – Ed.)
How many of you have tried the Holiday drinks at Trader Sam’s?  What is your favorite part of the Holiday season at Disneyland?

ROFL…ok…I didn’t see it until you pointed it out, and I didn’t make the zebra/reindeer connection either…guess I’m right there with you! I’ll have to see if these drinks are in the Tiki bar in Magic Kingdom when I go in a couple of weeks!! YAY! Something else yummy to look forward to :)

I didn’t make the connection either (and I was wearing my antlers that day so you would think I would’ve caught it! lol) I need to try that Mele Kaliki Mocha next!

Favorite part of the holidays at Disneyland are the decorations and the music that plays throughout the park. I also love the “magical moments” (random “snow” sprinkles) throughout the evening and of course the holiday fireworks! (You know why! 😉 )
