On Saturday I will be checking off another item on my Life List - a 5K! I'm so excited to be doing The Color Run in Los Angeles!
It seems a little bass ackward to do a 5K after completing a half marathon, but I couldn't pass up an opportunity to cross another item off my Life List AND also do something as incredibly awesome as The Color Run.
I'm a little nervous about it, actually. Not because of the race itself, but because of the COLOR. The color power is made from cornstarch and as everyone knows, I'm allergic to all things corn! So I'm going to be sure to wear a bandana over my mouth when color bombing is happening, and bring wipes to clean the powder off my skin right away (after I take a few pictures, of course).
Lots of awesome bloggers ahead of me have completed The Color Run, and I'm excited to follow in their footsteps:
Danica from Chic Runner:
Sara from Clever Pink Pirate:
Emmie from Skinny Emmie:
I can't wait to see how much COLOR I get! This will also be my first race with my friend and 5K pro, Wendy! I'm so excited to spend the morning with her.
There is still time to sign up! This Saturday at Dodger Stadium - the 9am wave is sold out but there's still spots left for the 2pm wave.

Have any of you completed The Color Run? What is your advice for me?

Go Mindy! That looks like a lot of fun (apart from, uh, the running part!)
ReplyDeleteHaha, I will probably walk most of it and just jog through the color parts! Thanks!
DeleteIt looks like a lot of fun! They're doing one here in the summer and I'm going to try and do it, if I can get anyone to come with me!
ReplyDeleteYeah, you totally should, Becky! Hubs won't do it with you?
DeleteWOW, that looks like fun! I am slightly worried about your allergies though. Hope all goes well, and hope you have an awesome time!!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I kind of dismissed the idea of ever doing a race like this because of my allergies but when the opportunity presented itself I went for it. The worst that will happen is I'll get a headache and lethargic and want to sleep all weekend ... which actually wouldn't be horrible. I need to catch up on sleep after Alt anyway!
DeleteWendy told me you guys were doing this but I thought it was later in February. It sounds really colorful. I heard that even if you're a spectator you get colored on, so I'm going to be cheering you both on from a safe color-free distance on my corner of the city instead. ;)
ReplyDeleteHave a great time and I can't wait to read what you think of it!
We will save a little pouch of colored corn just for you :P
Deletegee thanks. ;)
DeleteFun! I'm running 13 5K races in 2013 with my running partner. I completely forgot about the color fun and am so excited to have this be our July run (Minneapolis). Thanks!
ReplyDeleteJessica! 13?!? That's like, over one per month. You go girl.
DeleteOh that looks like a lot of fun. I never know where to sign up for 5ks? There has to be a listing somewhere. I did sign up for the Hollywood 10K after a friend did!
ReplyDeleteHi Wendy! If you do an internet search like this: "5k race " you'll find some! Once in a while I search "5k race Los Angeles" to see what's happening in my town. Active.com is also a good source. When is the Hollywood 10K? Good luck!
