Dapper Day is an unofficial event that takes place at Disneyland twice a year. It's an independently organized event (not hosted by Disney) that started a couple years ago. Participants are encouraged to dress up all fancy like for a day at the parks! If you look at photos of Disneyland from the 1950s, you'll see everyone is dressed very nicely - dress shirts and ties for men, and skirts or dresses for women.

Disneyland used to be a place worthy of dressing up in your finest! (Kind of like air travel.) Now Disneyland is full of shorty shorts and flip flops (guilty). So once in a while it's fun to get dolled up and enjoy the parks as previous generations did.
My day started by asking my social media peeps to help me pick an outfit - eep! I'm extremely indecisive.
Outfit 2 with the pink top and leopard skirt was the resounding winner!
I also never wear makeup - but my friend Michelle had just sent me some Arbonne products to try so I put on some foundation (which I never wear but I loved) and lip gloss in Raisin. Full review of Arbonne products will be up on the blog soon!
Buena Vista Street at Disney's California Adventure is the perfect backdrop for Dapper Day. We saw plenty of people dressed up.
There were adorable people everywhere.
I especially love this couple's coordinated polka dots.
I met up with my good pal Valerie and her stylish friends.
Valerie's friend, a talented photographer, was nice enough to take a couple pictures of moi.
What I'm Wearing:
Top: A Target find from a few years ago
Skirt: Starlets and Harlots
Shoes: Pinup Girl Clothing
Sunglasses: Black Glitter Cateye by Betsey Johnson, from Little Black Bag
Then I met up with my lovely Disneyland Bride friends at Carthay Circle Lounge.
Some beary special friends joined us.
My little (in age only) bro also tracked me down! He was DisneyBounding as Donald and he did a great job on his outfit.
As we were headed out, we bumped into some other Disneyland brides, so we all posed for pictures in the lobby.
After parting ways with everyone, I had some fun just taking pictures and processing them through Instagram, which was made for events like this! If you're on Instagram, follow me @mindyjoym!
Dapper Day was so much fun and I can't wait for the next event!

What a cool idea, every one of these pics is just adorable! Loove the pic of you sitting on the tile in that fierce skirt.
ReplyDeleteBTW, is that a custom girl Duffy or are those at the parks now?
Marie - It is Duffy's friend Shellie Mae, sold only at Tokyo Disney for now (with occasional appearances on eBay)!
DeleteIt was so much fun to see you. I loved your leopard skirt combo with the pink top! I also think your solo pics turned out fantastic. Work it Mindy! ;)
ReplyDeleteThere were so many creative outfits this year. I kept seeing that girl in the blue dress with the red hat all morning and I loved her styling.
Your brother made a fantastic Donald. I tried to spy him in the ginormous DisneyBound group photo but had no luck: they had quite a turn out though so that's cool.
I can't wait for the next Dapper day! :)
I had such a pawsome time at Dapper Day! I thought you all looked so beary nice. Thank you so beary much for treating us to that yummy pear juice at Carthay too. :)
ReplyDeleteDapper Day was so fun! Loved seeing all these stylish people every where I turned! So sad to have missed out on a meetup though! I'm going to keep trying!!! lol
