When we first booked our honeymoon cruise through the Mediterranean, the one stop I was least excited about was Dubrovnik, Croatia. Mostly because I wasn't at all familiar with this city (in the same way everyone knows of Rome or Athens).
My, how things can change. Presently, Dubrovnik is now the port I am most looking forward to. Dubrovnik looks like an amazing little town, with scenic views and charming streets. The above image is from Restaurant Nautika, aka "I want to go to there." I can totally imagine us sitting at that little corner table in the sun, sipping on wine and me turning my nose up at the all seafood menu. I'm a charming travel companion.
I'm not completely sure where the above picture was taken, but I'm assuming it's Old Town, the more tourist-y area of Dubrovnik. Old Town is surrounded by fortress-type walls, and for about $10 you can go up and walk around the city walls. THAT'S DOPE.
Mr. BFT did some research and found this bar called Buza:
I also recently came across this wedding in Dubrovnik. I will be on a mission to find this little niche. And then spend the rest of my life there.

Have you been to Dubrovik? Where should we go / what should we do during our day there?

My husband and I went on a Mediterranean cruise for our honeymoon back in early November. Dubrovnik was our last port, and we only had a few hours there. We both agreed we could have spent days there!!! It's a lovely town, and the people are super friendly. We walked the entire wall, which I HIGHLY recommend, and had time for a small snack before and a light lunch after. The second shot above shows the main drag through the old town. Lots of little shops and restaurants line it, and the entrance to the wall is on the end from which the shot was taken. It's a beautiful place - Have fun :)
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited to walk the wall! I was looking at some more pictures last night (after this post was already written) and the photos from the walls just look stunning. I might have to buy a bigger SD card.
DeleteYou'll love it! Everywhere you look off the wall there's a picture to take! You can see a handful of mine here: http://500px.com/Trixieplum/sets
DeleteBeautiful! My cousin is planning on going to Croatia for his honeymoon. He said it was French/Italian Riviera beauty, at a much more affordable price, lol
ReplyDeleteI'm finding lots of people that have honeymooned in Croatia!
DeleteThe picture taken from above is of the Stradun, the main street in old town Dubrovnik. The picture is taken from atop the fortress walls.
ReplyDeleteThere are actually two Buza bars, both of which are built into the outside of the walls of Dubrovnik. The smaller Buza is my personal favorite because it's usually less crowded. You can also pretty much just jump into the water straight from there. Some of my favorite moments of all time took place there. Sometimes, local bands will play really beautiful, romantic music there right at sunset and then through the night. Love love love.
I'm so happy for you that you're going!!! (I'm also super jealous. ;)
D'oh - TWO Buzas? Now I have to figure out which one is the "good" one. And I've heard Dubrovnik has wonderful nightlife but sadly we have to be back on the boat by 5:30. We shall watch the sunset from our balcony as we sail away!
DeleteI don't know anything about Croatia, but your pictures of it look awesome. I don't think I'll make it there this lifetime, so you'll have to live it up for the both of us. I hope you find that "corner of love". :)
ReplyDeleteMe, too! Thanks! :)
