I love the Disney blogger community. Not only because we all have a huge passion in common, but because everyone is so supportive and friendly. So when something good happens to a member of the community, you can’t help but burst with pride and happiness for them. These are the people who are living Walt’s example of having a spark of an idea and working hard to bring it to life.
When I read that John Frost, creator and author of The Disney Blog, was compiling his writing into an e-book called Dispatch from Disneyland, I knew this was a book directed at me. I mean, as you know, Disneyland is my favorite place. I’ve been going to Disneyland since I was a kid, I know the layout of the park by heart, and HELLO, I GOT MARRIED THERE. So when I was given a review copy of Dispatch from Disneyland to read over, I obviously jumped all over it.
Dispatch from Disneyland is a collection of short stories, personal essays, and Disneyland facts, all written by John over a span of about 20 years. Some are whimsical stories, some are serious business, and some, like a poem about getting stuck inside It’s A Small World Holiday, are downright funny. But all evoke that magic of Disneyland that we all know and dream about. If you live far away and can’t get your fill of Disneyland, you will adore this book. If you visit Disneyland every day, you will still appreciate this book but perhaps more for the essays and tributes to long lost attractions (Carnation Gardens, Festival of Fools) than the stories. Either way, John has a descriptive way of writing about Disneyland, especially the sights and sounds of Main Street USA, that makes you feel like you’re truly there in the middle of it all.
I want to congratulate John on publishing his first book and for continuing to set a great example for all of us “newbie” Disney bloggers.
If you’re interested in purchasing Dispatch from Disneyland, you may do so directly from John’s site www.DispatchfromDisneyland.com. This is a special edition e-book which includes an extra essay and some color photos. You can also purchase the Kindle e-book and print version via Amazon.
I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did!
